The battery is really easy to change, but it's not intuitive how to get the fob apart. From memory, first you separate the two halves of the fob, then you rotate the central part that has the metal emergency key inside to reveal the battery. Maybe this picture will help?

#2 · Feb 25, 2018 Did you swap the immobiliser chip as well as the blade and PCB? It's a small irregular-looking bit of bit featureless plastic, a few mm long, tucked into a small compartment within the fob. It could easily be mistaken for something that had broken off the fob.
Today, when I tried to start my Q4 (July 2017 build, MY2018) the engine would not crank and the IP displayed "Key Fob Not Detected". I placed the fob inside the center console, on the bottom, as instructed by the Owner-User Manual. The engine now started normally, with no IP warning.
